As a small girl I used to go along with my granma when she visited the family grave. The churchyard was on the border of a slow deep river, like black silk. Under the shade of high trees colourful plantings, wide sand paths, the sand gave a pleasant sound under my curious sneakers. Squirrels hopped from gravestone to another. Peace and calm. My love of gardens must stem from those summer days in the well kept churchyard.
