School's out! Riemun päivä!

The Esplanade was packed. Espalla oli tungosta.

Started from the bottom, now we are here. Pohjalta päästiin tänne.

Looking for his friends. Kavereita katsomassa.

This is a very serious matter. Vakava paikka.

The North Esplanade was packed with spectators, who had come to watch as students left school for the last time. Before they buckled down to study for the finals they had their traditional ride in and around the Esplanade, followed by intense partying around the city and aboard the ferries.

My younger daughter was aboard one of the trucks. I had told her where I would be standing, waving and taking pictures. When her truck passed me, I saw her  trying to spot me in the crowd, wailing "momma, momma" to the great merriment of the spectators. Of course I did not manage to take her picture, I was too moved.

Penkkareissa ajeli nuorin tyttäreni. Olin sanonut tähyileväni häntä Akateemisen portailla, joten hän tiesi missä kohtaa tähyillä minua rekkansa lavalta käsin. Siellä hän meni, pieni vaaleaverikkö, huudelleen haikealla äänellä äitiä: "mammaaa, mammaa!" Yleisöä nauratti, minä liikutuin enkä tietenkään saanut kuvaa hänestä.
